Quantum Trust and Communication Foundations

Explain quantum communication, QKD and QRNG concepts and relate them to trusted engineering systems.

10+ structured hours Students · Academic staff · Researchers · Industry Online / blended

Why this mini-credential matters

Develop an applied foundation in quantum information, communication and cryptography, including QKD, QRNG and quantum-safe readiness for engineers and innovators.

The course emphasises clear operating assumptions, system context and limits rather than presenting quantum security as a universal or immediate replacement for existing controls.

By the end

What you should be able to do

  • Describe selected quantum-information concepts in engineering language.
  • Explain the purpose and limits of QKD and QRNG.
  • Relate quantum trust to cryptographic and system requirements.
  • Use accurate terminology in a simple communication scenario.

How learning is demonstrated

Concept check, QKD/QRNG reasoning exercise and terminology or system mapping.

Credential and recognition

Successful completion may lead to a STEMMING/project or delivering-HEI credential under the approved procedure for that cohort. EIT Label, ECTS equivalence and local recognition are not automatic and must be confirmed before enrolment.

The delivery owner must confirm the issuer, local recognition, any ECTS equivalence and final co-branding before recruiting a cohort.
